Place Value within 20
We have been busy this term exploring numbers within 20 and have become experts at using tens frames, base 10 and even number lines. We have also learnt how to match numerals with words too.
Number Lines to 20
Year One enjoyed a practical lesson using mastery cards and number lines. We worked in pairs to challenge each other, estimating where a particular number should be placed and in what order. This was a great way for us to understand number lines and to practice writing our numbers.
Counting by making groups of ten and extras
Year one have been making groups of tens up to 50 using ones and counting the extras they have left. They were very impressed at how easy it was to make and count those greater numbers.
Partitioning tens and ones
Working with base ten we used part whole models to partition numbers up to and including 50.
