Welcome to Year 1

Our teachers are here to guide and support your child every step of the way as they explore the world of reading, writing, maths, and much more. Get ready for a year packed with laughter, creativity, and amazing achievements.

We have an open-door policy in school and actively encourage you to come in if you have any concerns or worries. We are here to help in anyway we can.

How can I help my child?

The transition from EYFS to KS1 can be a big change for your child and we want to make it as easy as possible and provide a smooth transition for you and your child.

You can help to support to them by:

Ensuring all your child's belongings are clearly labelled to avoid any lost uniform.
Listening to them read at home for a short period each night and ask them questions to clarify their understanding of what has been read.
Looking out for information about our topics on the website and encouraging your child to continue learning at home.

In Year 1, you will be expected to:

Use kind words, hands and feet.
Complete all homework.
Have your reading book in school everyday.
Look after your own things.
Respect each other and their property.
Try their best.
