St Kentigern’s Catholic Primary School

“Treat others as you want to be treated”

Mission Statement

St Kentigern’s Catholic Primary School, as part of our parish community of faith, is dedicated to nurturing each child as a unique and sacred gift from God. Guided by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of His Church, we strive to develop the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical potential of every student to the fullest.

Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, we uphold the dignity of every human person and foster a community built on love, justice, compassion, and service. Inspired by Christ’s teaching, “Treat Others As You Want To Be Treated” (Luke 6:31), we encourage our children to grow in faith through prayer, reflection, and action, living out the values of solidarity, stewardship, and care for others.

We are committed to educating the whole child within a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every individual is valued and respected. Through cooperation, friendship, and shared responsibility, we cultivate a joyful and caring learning community that prepares our children to contribute positively to society while recognising and respecting the beliefs of others.

Vision Statement

We envision St. Kentigern’s Catholic Primary School as a vibrant community where children flourish in faith, hope, and love. Rooted in the teachings of the Gospel and guided by St. Kentigern, we aim to nurture all our children to become compassionate individuals who make a positive impact on the world around them. Our vision is to be a place where every child is valued, and together, we strive to build a future of justice, peace, and love for all.

Values

Our school values come directly from a series of blessings called The Beatitudes, found in the Gospel of Matthew (5:3-12). The Beatitudes are a set of teachings delivered by Jesus Christ during the Sermon on the Mount.

The blue text explains how we seek to follow that Beatitude at St Kentigern’s.

The orange text highlights the key values in that Beatitude.

Matthew 5 v 3-12

1. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

In school, we think about how we behave towards each other; we consider each other’s feelings; we forgive each other and search for peace in all we do.

Faithfulness and Integrity

2. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

As a school, we respond to the needs of our children. We ensure our children feel loved, safe and included.

Dignity and Compassion

3. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

We celebrate all our children and their uniqueness. We value all members of our St. Kentigern’s family and treat everyone equally.

Humility and Gentleness

4. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

We encourage “doing the right thing”, supporting others in justice and caring for our wider community.

Truth and Justice

5. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

We start each day as a new day, learning from our mistakes and making the right choices.

Forgiveness and Mercy

6. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.

At St. Kentigern’s, we respect each other; we consider each other’s feelings; we show tolerance and support.

Tolerance and Peace

7.  Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.  Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

At school, we are doing things for the greater good. We promote an ethos of saying thank you and supporting each other.
